Ainamaani Golden is eight years old and lives with his parents. He has significant physical and developmental disabilities and cannot sit or stand without full-body support. His family assists him with feeding, bathing, changing, and movement throughout the day.

Golden’s parents care deeply for him, but severe household poverty limits what they can provide beyond immediate necessities. Specialized seating, mobility equipment, medical support, therapy, and suitable learning opportunities remain out of reach.

Support for Golden should begin with his daily comfort and safety. Appropriate seating, care supplies, nutritious food, medical assessment, and access to disability-inclusive learning and therapy would give him more opportunities to participate and develop.

AWL is documenting these needs so assistance can respond to Golden as a child with his own dignity, relationships, and potential.

Byabasheija Ethan is a nine-year-old boy who lives with his grandmother in Rwagaaju, Nyakinengo. He has significant physical and intellectual disabilities and needs help with feeding, bathing, communication, and movement. He cannot sit upright, stand, or walk without support.

Ethan’s grandmother provides his daily care while managing severe financial hardship. The family often has to prioritize food and other essentials, leaving little money for adapted equipment, therapy, bedding, or hygiene supplies.

The most immediate priorities are supportive seating or an adapted wheelchair, nutritious food, hygiene supplies, comfortable bedding, medical follow-up, and physiotherapy. Assistance for his grandmother would also make full-time care safer and more sustainable.

AWL is sharing Ethan’s story so supporters can understand the practical support that would improve his comfort, health, and participation in family and community life.

Ainebyoona Mark is 12 years old and has a significant physical disability. Both of his parents and all five children in the household also live with physical disabilities.

The family’s access needs affect nearly every part of daily life. Limited income and mobility make it difficult to secure enough food, reach school, obtain learning materials, or buy suitable wheelchairs, crutches, and supportive seating. Mark and his siblings are currently excluded from school because the family cannot afford tuition, materials, and accessible transport.

The household needs coordinated support rather than a single short-term item. Priorities include food and hygiene supplies, mobility equipment, education costs, accessible transport, and a home-based livelihood that the parents can manage.

AWL is sharing Mark’s story to help supporters see the family as a whole and direct assistance toward greater mobility, learning, and household stability.

Ariho Isaac is a 14-year-old boy with physical and intellectual disabilities. He relies on caregivers for feeding, personal hygiene, movement, and other daily activities.

Isaac lives with his family in severe poverty. Meeting his care needs requires time, physical effort, suitable equipment, and supplies that the household cannot consistently afford.

Practical assistance can improve Isaac’s daily comfort and reduce pressure on his caregivers. Priorities include nutritious food, hygiene supplies, appropriate seating and mobility support, medical follow-up, and reliable help for the family members who care for him.

AWL is sharing Isaac’s story to connect his family with support grounded in dignity, safety, and consistent care.

Amanyabyoona Daphine is a 17-year-old young woman with a physical disability affecting her lower limbs. She cannot stand or walk independently, so a safe and reliable wheelchair is essential for daily movement.

Daphine lives in a household where both parents and all four of her siblings also have physical disabilities. The family’s mobility needs combine with severe economic hardship, making education, transport, assistive devices, and other basic support difficult to secure.

For Daphine, a suitable wheelchair would support more than movement. It would make it easier to take part in learning, family life, and community activities while reducing the physical strain of moving without appropriate equipment.

AWL is seeking disability-inclusive education support, accessible services, and dependable mobility equipment that can help Daphine pursue greater independence as she enters adulthood.

Akandwanira Simon is 12 years old and has severe muscle weakness in his lower limbs. His legs cannot bear his weight, and he cannot stand or walk without support.

Simon wants the same everyday opportunities as other children his age: to move around safely, play, learn, and spend time with other children. Without suitable mobility support and accessible transport, those ordinary activities remain difficult to reach.

Both of Simon’s parents also have physical disabilities, and the family lives with serious financial hardship. A properly fitted mobility aid, education support, and accessible services would reduce some of the barriers the family manages each day.

AWL is sharing Simon’s profile to focus attention on practical access. The aim is to help him participate more fully at home, at school, and in his community.
